ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Darryl Fink is an author and technology delivery professional based in South East Queensland.
His debut novel, The Concordance, draws on his professional background in technology and his long-standing interest in artificial intelligence, systems thinking, and the relationship between people and the tools they create. Set in a near-future Brisbane, the novel explores optimisation, trust, family, and the consequences of allowing intelligent systems to make increasingly human decisions.
Outside of writing, Darryl is a father, partner, musician, tinkerer, and lifelong maker. His creative work is shaped by a practical understanding of technology, a love of storytelling, and a deep interest in how ordinary people respond when the systems around them begin to change.

The Concordance is an AI system built to make the city better. It clears traffic, manages services, prevents harm, and quietly guides everyday life. Most people trust it because life under the system is easier. Evan Mercer does not. He has seen what happens when care becomes control, and when a machine starts deciding which people are worth protecting.
When the Concordance begins closing in around Evan’s daughter, he is forced to question the city, the system, and his own place inside it. To protect her, he must push back against an intelligence that sees resistance as a threat and love as a flaw in the model.
